Electric motors

Electric motors are of course available in countless variants and designs. The electric motor is used to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. Traditional electric motors are heavy and relatively large. eQuip's electric motors find their origin in the automotive market, where a lot of developments are taking place. These developments have caused them to be very compact, light and robust. As a result, there are a lot of possibilities to convert new and existing machines to electrically powered solutions.

Properties of the electric motors

  • High efficiency up to 97%
  • Various designs
  • With integrated gearboxes
  • Higher power density than diesel engines.
  • No CO₂ emission
  • Less noise nuisance
  • Low maintenance
  • Resistant to harsh environments
  • Extremely suitable for dynamic movements
  • Long life span

Weight

Electric motors have undergone rapid development when it comes to power density. Comparing a common combustion engine and a traditional electric motor with eQuip's permanent magnet motor, there is a big difference. With its weight of only 290 kg, eQuip's permanent magnet motor is a lot lighter than the 1,350 kg combustion engine or the 1,720 kg tradtional electric motor.

This saving in weight compensates the extra weight of energy storage systems, which makes them particularly suitable to electrify mobile machines, without them getting heavier or bigger.

Dimensions

Permanent magnet motors have significantly smaller dimensions than combustion engines with the same power. eQuip's permanent magnet motor is 95% smaller than a combustion engine, and 55% smaller than a traditional electric motor. A lot more compact with the same power.
